Born in China, Deng Shiquing(b.1992) began her artistic career after earning a BFA from the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing and an MFA from the New York Academy of Art. Through her paintings, she explores the relationship between virtually manipulated realities and the disconnectable material world, translating personal experiences and contemporary events into eerie, mysterious narratives. Her work visualizes how modern individuals consume images—specifically the process by which platforms standardize human desire and attention into data—questioning what "authenticity" means in today's image environment. Her major accolades include The Bennett Prize (2023), the Signature Art Prize Artist of the Year (2020), and "Best of Show" at the International Biennial Portrait Competition (2019). Additionally, she was selected for the Chubb Fellowship in 2018 and participated in the Terra Foundation residency program in Giverny, France, in 2017. She has held numerous solo exhibitions in New York, Los Angeles, Milan, and Switzerland, and has participated in group shows at major institutions such as the United Nations Headquarters in New York, Sotheby's, the National Art Museum of China, and the Edward Hopper House.
