ARTSIDE Temporary will host a curated exhibition titled <Turning Up> featuring works from 20 diverse artists from December 8th to December 29th, to celebrate the end of the year. Since its opening in September, ARTSIDE Temporary proposed a unique direction for exhibitions through solo shows by artists Lee Taesoo and 정소윤, leaving a fresh impact on the art community and the public. This December exhibition marks the third installment for ARTSIDE Temporary, aiming to break away from standardized exhibitions and present a renewed vision of contemporary art.
<Turning Up> began with the desire to break through the high threshold that art has traditionally held in modern society and make art more accessible and familiar. While art has become more integrated into society, there are still emotions that feel difficult and unfamiliar. ARTSIDE recognizes that within the category of art, the influence of music is closely connected to us and more popular, and that music and visual art have lasted together for a long time. The exhibition plans to shed light on our lives that coexist with art by fusing music and visual art.
Inspired by a record shop, a place where one can experience both visual and auditory senses, the exhibition will feature artworks in the same size as LP records (32x32cm), displaying the infinite creativity of 20 artists within the confined dimensions. The exhibition will share the music that each artist listened to while working, providing a glimpse into the artist's story and allowing viewers to immerse themselves in the emotions and narratives of the creative process, and appreciate the work from a variety of perspectives. The music and art, although devoid of explicit verbal expressions, evoke emotions and empathy, giving birth to new meanings for someone.
The exhibition is not limited to genres such as painting, crafts, and art furniture, and the hope is that the 20 artists and art with their own unique colors will be more approachable and comfortable. Through this diverse exhibition, which expands the senses and provides a lot of inspiration, artists and viewers are encouraged to give their own interpretations and new meanings to the artworks, fostering a closer and more familiar relationship with art.
